When determining how much you should charge as a freelancer, consider how much you should pay yourself, how much you should charge your clients, and how much profit you should return to your business for future reinvestment and growth.
STEP 1: you should search the internet and check out job listings geared toward freelancers in the same field to see if you can get an idea of what you should and could charge.
STEP 2: Determine your annual base income, based on determining the typical salary range for your career area in a realistic income level.
STEP 3: Once you've determined how much money you want to make per year, you'll need to work out how to get there. Start by dividing your desired annual salary by 52 (for a start). That gives you the EGP amount you need to earn per week. Then, take that amount and divide it by 40. This is the hourly fee you should charge your clients.
Also you need to calculate your expenses.
When calculating your own freelance rate, things that you should be taking into consideration are: phone, laptop, internet, software, service subscriptions, tools of your trade, travel expenses, taxes, office equipment, supplies, insurance, and benefits…. The list goes on and on…
So do not forget to add your expenses with your own salary too while calculating your hourly rate!
